University – State Industry Collaboration
Our Honorary Presidents and Entrepreneur Founding Members, Mr. MsC. Hüseyin Arabul and Mr. MsC. Özcan Kanburoğlu, have successfully completed their Master's theses which is the technical foundation of Emek and constitutes the first University-Industry Collaboration project in Turkey (ODTÜ-ETİBANK). Their theses were titled "Design, Manufacturing, and Operational Testing of 154kV Cascade Current Transformers."
Birth of EMEK
Adnan Golar and Huseyin Arabul established EMEK together with Ozcan Kanburoğlu,Tulin - Ertuğrul Hergül, Necmiye-Sezai Sayın, Ayten Dündar, Dr. Tomris Golar, Hakkı Gültopçu, Saffet Aykan, Mustafa Karakaya and Fethi Gürçağlar with a paid-in capital of 550.000 Turkish Liras.
EMEK, started manufacturing of Oil Immersed Voltage and Current Transformers up to 36kV.
Licence Agreement with BALTEAU
EMEK made a license agreement with BALTEAU (Belgium) for High and Medium Voltage Instrument Transformers and moved to her today's facilities along the Esenboğa Airport Road.
First HV Production
First 170 kV voltage and current transformers were manufactured.
First Epoxy Casting
First medium voltage, epoxy resin instrument transformers were manufactured.
Licence Agreement with ICAR
EMEK signed technology transfer agreement with ICAR Italy, for the production of capacitive voltage transformers and LV power capacitors.
HV Laboratory
EMEK commissioned her own research and testing laboratory capable of performing all the routine and type tests of instrument transformers (except the short time current test for current transformers) up to 550kV, as per IEC, ANSI, BS, AS, IEEE etc. Later, a 5 meter high climatic room capable of going down to -45°C was added to the laboratory.
First HV CVT Production
170 kV Capacitive Voltage Transformers were manufactured.
First export
EMEK realised her first export of instrument transformers to WAPDA, Pakistan.
First Circuit Breaker Production
170 kV, SF6 Circuit Breakers were manufactured under the license of GEC Switchgear Ltd/UK for the first time in Turkey.
First DS production
First 170 kV Disconnecting Switch was manufactured for TEIAS, Turkish Utility.
First 170kV Circuit Breaker Production
170 kV, SF6 Circuit Breakers were manufactured under the license of GEC Switchgear Ltd/UK for the first time in Turkey.
BARMEK Holding was established
As a result of the reorganization studies, BARMEK Holding was established.
GALMEK is established
A joint venture company was established with Gec-Alsthom (France), called GALMEK; for manufacturing of SF6 Circuit Breakers and Cubicles up to 36 kV.
Quality matters!
EMEK was granted ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
We are re-validating the certificate from ABS Quality, USA, periodically.
Emek is in Stock Exchange
EMEK shares (18%) were offered to the public through Istanbul Stock Exchange, under the name of EMKEL.
Barmek Azerbaijan
BARMEK Group, decided to establish an electromechanical manufacturing facility at international quality standards for Azerbaijan and CIS Countries, took over a facility in setting on 110.000 m2 open field and having 70.000 m2 covered factory area at a tender in Azerbaijan within the privatization package.
By utilizing EMEK's technological welfare, that is planned and started to manufactucture electrical components such as Electronic Metering Systems, Instrument Transformers LV and upto 110 kV, Disconnecting Switches, Circuit Breakers, Power Capacitors, Distrubution Transformers and Metal Clads accordance with the latest technology.

GOST Certificate
EMEK was granted GOST certificate applicable in Russia and CIS countries.
Our laboratory is accredited
EMEK was granted IEC 17025 Accreditation Laboratory Certificate by TURKAK (a member of EA & ILAC). Any type test that we perform in our laboratory is well accepted worldwide as accredited test.
First Silicone Composite Insulator Production
EMEK started production of Silicone Composite Insulators to be used for Instrument Transformer Production.
Epoxy Casing Parts
EMEK started production of epoxy casting parts which are used in MV panel manufacturing.
First production of 550kV Instrument Transformers
EMEK manufactured first 550kV Instrument Transformers and exported to Kyrgyzstan through Alstom.
We have type test report from VEIKI VNL, Hungary for 550kV products.
OHSAS 18001
EMEK has been awarded with the certificate of OHSAS 18001:2007 Health and Safety Management Systems.
Establishment of EMEK USA
EMEK has established EMEK USA Inc, in Greenville-South Carolina USA, for sales and aftersales services and to follow investment opportunities closer.
Internal Arc Test
EMEK has succesfully performed Internal Arc Test on a 420kV Current Transformer according to new IEC standard, IEC-61869
SAP Integration
EMEK start the project to integrate new ERP system SAP.
EMEK R & D is established
EMEK established a new R&D company in the Middle East Technical University, to conduct research and development company.

Its reliable and high quality products have been repeatedly tested in local and international laboratories. Its experience has been strengthened with transformers working in the system for half a century, it has improved and renewed itself every day.
